My passion is now my job and I want to share with you who I am and how my journey has gotten me to where I am playing today. Throughout my blog I will share with you my personal journey of how I have gotten to where I am today, tips and insight into clubs, perceptions of footballers, how to videos, and stories of other young Aussie footballers abroad.
First, let me tell you a little bit about myself and my journey so far.
I grew up playing football in Newcastle Australia all the way up until I was 17 years old. I have 3 brothers, one older and two younger, and this was what made me competitive and love football to this day. It has to start somewhere, right?
I began my love for football at a young age playing my local club Warners Bay Panthers and played there for many years enjoying myself amongst friends. As I got older I was apart of various academies within the Lake Macquarie region like Macquarie Football, Northern New South Wales, and the Emerging Jets Program.
I was grateful enough to sign my first professional contract at 17 years old in my hometown under Scott Miller who was the first team coach at the time. He gave me the opportunity to begin my career as a young footballer in a very professional environment and develop and understand the joys of being a footballer, but the responsibility and work which had to be committed into becoming the best footballer I could become.
After completing a season at the Newcastle Jets, I had the opportunity to take my football to the next level and test myself in one of the most high profile footballing countries in the world, England.
Millwall is where I experienced things where not many people my age could experience. Training amongst Ex-Premier League players, national team representatives, and current championship players. I had the opportunity of playing alongside one of Australia’s greatest footballers, Tim Cahill and a close friend today who was part of Australia’s world cup squad, James Meredith.
That brings me to where I am now. I am currently playing in a second division side in the south-east of Sweden called Hassleholm IF. This is where the next chapter of my football career is going to grow and in a blog to come, I will tell you what it is like about where I am today.
The question is why you should follow ‘On The Ball’… Well following my blog will give anyone the opportunity to understand what happens throughout a young footballers life abroad and the experiences that we face in chasing our dreams and hopefully making yours come true, or understand more of what it takes.
Watch this space! Let this be the beginning of growing a better understanding of football no matter who you are!
